WI Vets Museum Tour
A small group of ACWSA members were treated to a special tour of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum holdings with Curator Kevin Hampton on June 19, 2016. Only about 3% of the museums holdings are on display at any one time. Pictured items include the vest and handkerchief 2nd Wisconsin Commander Lucius Fairchild wore when wounded, Cassius Fairchilds liquor box, 1st Wisconsin gray uniforms, 2nd Wisconsin Philander Wright’s Hardee Hat, the 2nd Wisconsin’s first-issue National colors, a flute and drum reported used by 2nd Wisconsin musicians and an artillery round that killed a 2nd Wisconsin officer.
